Fortunately, this trip will be a week and a few days, so I have plenty of time to get rest. This Ro(a)mantic Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09324882155203905958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7356184928339139776.post-64855821110752511062009-03-12T09:37:00.000-05:002009-03-12T09:37:00.000-05:00Pebbles and babies would be a great blog title Hop...Pebbles and babies would be a great blog title Hope you feel more settled and are getting excited about the weekend travel - or have you done it too often now to get excited?French Fancy...https://www.blogger.com/profile/04941577892849157015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7356184928339139776.post-27951107410074107592009-03-12T00:39:00.000-05:002009-03-12T00:39:00.000-05:00Thanks, Good Enough Woman :). She seemed to think labor, but my argument was that labor gives you intermittent breaks while kidney stones seem to be unremitting. Good to know what someone with the experience of both thinks! Though I'm sorry you had to deal with kidney problems too. Pebbles and babies -- definitely not the same thing. This Ro(a)mantic Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09324882155203905958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7356184928339139776.post-31789570452489667222009-03-11T19:36:00.000-05:002009-03-11T19:36:00.000-05:00I had a kidney stone 10 weeks after I gave birth t...I had a kidney stone 10 weeks after I gave birth to my daughter. I called the midwives because I thought one of my ovaries was exploding. My husband took me to the hospital, and, fortunately, I passed it not too long after they hooked me up to the IV. The CT scan confirm a small existing stone and evidence suggesting that a larger stone had just passed.

Ouch. I would prefer labor over the stone. (And this says a lot since I had no drugs during labor.) With labor, at least you have breaks between contractions. And, at the end of it, you get a baby rather than a pebble of calcium.

I am glad you're better. And happy birthday!

(My verification word is "pitypho"!)Good Enough Womanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16531793545583712309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7356184928339139776.post-74724685684860936662009-03-11T13:49:00.000-05:002009-03-11T13:49:00.000-05:00Me too! I think what was even more unsettling was how the drugs completely stopped the pain in minutes -- technically, the stone was still hurting me but I couldn't feel a thing. There's something a little eerie about that. This Ro(a)mantic Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09324882155203905958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7356184928339139776.post-20805823717735987292009-03-11T11:54:00.000-05:002009-03-11T11:54:00.000-05:00Oh you poor sweet thing. I passed a stone years ago and was doubled up on the floor - it is meant to be one of the most intense pains the human body can experience.

What a rotten way to spend a birthday - recovering (you fellow Pisces). Hope your trip is problem freeFrench Fancy...https://www.blogger.com/profile/04941577892849157015noreply@blogger.com
